FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • No. I am a certified professional life coach. I obtained my certification in 2022 after years of providing informal coaching and support group services in the Muslim community. Although therapy is different from life coaching, there is some overlap. I am qualified to listen, offer assistance and help my clients clarify their thinking and map out their goals. If, at any time, I feel a client would better be served through therapy, I consider it my professional and ethical duty to refer them to someone else. Because I am part of this industry, I know several qualified Muslim therapists that could provide the targetted support you may need.

  • Yes. I obtained my certification in 2022 through the Certified Life Coaching (CLCI) Institute which is an ICF-accredited institution. My specialization is in marriage, divorce and family coaching. I also have a secondary specialization in coaching young people, particularly women in their late teens/early 20s.

  • Yes. I was divorced. My first marriage lasted 12 years alhamdolillah but there came a point where it could no longer continue. I was single for 3 years before remarrying. I am now happily married and my husband and I are raising 6 beautiful children; 3 are his, 2 are mine and 1 is ours, masha’Allah.

  • No. Divorce is a last resort and I am a firm believer that most troubled marriages can either be fixed and/or even thrive as long as both people are willing to work on themselves and the marriage.

  • Although I have always been involved in community work, and even led masjid halaqas over the years, it is only in 2017 when I started running a Muslim Women’s Divorce Support Group that I realized many women in our community sadly lack and desperately need support. Not just in terms of navigating divorced life, but also in their marriages and in their parenting. I also noticed the strain and loneliness women go through causes many to abandon their Islam, only worsening the problem. Because I had been through all the same struggles, I was able to offer value and direction to these women. During the pandemic, our community struggled even more and I got a lot of calls asking for help. I decided it was time to start prioritizing this critical work.

  • Part of what makes such a great educator is that I am a curriculum designer at heart. My greatest talent is understanding the needs of my students, diagnosing their strengths, identifying their weaknesses and then moving them through a carefully designed step-by-step process of improvement. I have brought this expertise to my coaching. In my one-on-one process, every client gets a free discovery call and if they choose to continue, I design a unique program for them based on their specific needs. In January 2023, I will begin offering small classes based on this proven process.

  • Yes! Teaching is my passion and I will never be able to leave it completely. I now teach completely online and am considered an expert in online curriculum design and academic coaching for ambitious high school students from around the world. One of the courses I’m currently teaching is called “Health Psychology” which is about approaching wellness from a holistic biopsychosocial lens. As you can see, I am bringing a lot of the skills (and content) from my teaching career into my life coaching business.

  • I want Muslim women to feel happy and empowered in their lives. I want them to feel strong, stable and secure. I firmly believe this is the key to building stronger marriages, stronger families and stronger communities. It all starts with women. I consider this work part of my contribution to the ummah and I hope to be rewarded for it.

  • My time, my expertise and my experience are valuable. Just like yours. I charge because I bring something valuable to the table and I deserve to be compensated. I also have a family that depends on me. There is nothing unIslamic about providing a service and expecting compensation. In fact, Islam encourages this and encourages Muslims to support Muslim businesses. We all benefit when qualified people choose to work for the betterment of the community rather than taking their talents to the non-Muslim community in hopes of better payment. We should celebrate talent, not discourage it. Each one of my clients has told me they’ve learned so much and feel very grateful for the decision to work with me. Like anything in life, if you want high quality services, you have to be willing to spend a little bit of money.
